Enrolments

Session 2018-19:  The academic session of 2018-19  will start in the first week of April.

DPS has classes from Pre-Nursery- Grade 9th. The classroom strength will be at a maximum of 30 students. Parents interested in admitting their wards to DPS are advised to register them by January 2019.

Entrance Tests

Admission to Kindergarten is on a first come basis. Parents are therefore advised to register their child in December, before the commencement of the academic session.

For Class 1-9, the entrance test is a tool to assess the caliber of the child. The performance of the child in the entrance helps us gauge the ability of the student and provides us with appropriate feedback in order to give the child appropriate support within the classroom.

It is ONLY under certain compelling circumstances that admission is denied:

  • If a child does not attempt the entrance paper at all
  • If the attempted paper is much below average
  • If the child is underage and therefore unable to comprehend the level of the test.

Please phone us if you have anyfurther queries. We look forward to welcoming you to the DPS Community!

Mid Term Admissions- the Challenges of Coping with New Systems

DPS is sensitive to the needs of the parent who seeks admission for their child in the mid-term. We are only limited by the vacancies in the classroom since our classes are planned to seat only a limited number of students.

Admission Procedure for the Mid Term Applicant

Parents seeking admission for their children mid-session are requested to contact the admissions office either in person or by e-mail. If there is a vacancy, a seat for the class the admission is sought may be blocked by registering the child.

Aptitude Testing- Getting to Know the Child

DPS, Pathankot due to its situation and the geographical area it caters to, has developed a system of parallel classes within the class. Teachers are trained to handle children students of various calibers through this system. However, all children will have to attempt an assessment which provides invaluable feedback to the academic staff and helps us tweak the curriculum to suit the pace of the child.

Interaction with the Principal, Coordinator and the Academic Heads

Once the formality of the assessment and its evaluation is completed the school will apprise the parent of the course and how it will be handled. Above average students will get more challenging school work, while the average students will be put through a period of intensive hand holding before they are confident enough to manage the prescribed courses independently.

Documentation required for admission

Parents are requested to present the following documents at the time of admission:

  1. Transfer Proof of the parent
  2. Residence Proof of the parent
